GRID Alternatives’ International Program brings solar power to community buildings, small farmers and homes in rural Nicaragua. We offer a unique week-long international experience that gives corporate teams a chance to learn about solar energy, make a fundamental difference at a grassroots level, and gain a new perspective about life in another culture.
Show your company’s support for clean energy and poverty alleviation by supporting our International Program. You can sponsor a project, send employees on a trip with us, or make a donation.
- Teambuilding: Improve communication and cooperation on your team by engaging your staff in a fun, inspiring, and educational project.

Nicaragua is the poorest Latin country in the western hemisphere, with half of its population living below the poverty line. Millions of people in Nicaragua live without electricity and rely on harmful and polluting alternatives like diesel and gas generators, kerosene lamps, and candles to see at night. Reliable electricity allows people to access information, stay healthy, communicate with others, enjoy entertainment, and live a more comfortable life. Solar electricity provides clean reliable energy 24 hours a day.
