Alex Mitroff has always been interested in renewable energy, but didn’t know in what capacity he would be choose to get involved. In college he started learning about renewable energy along with solar policy and financing and found out about GRID at a career fair. Alex Mitroff started volunteering with GRID in October 2014, and quickly became interested in the Solar Construction Internship. Alex ended up being the only volunteer one day at a warehouse clean up, and so he was able to meet and talk with Harry Scholten, the warehouse supervisor. He says the best thing about the internship so far has been the opportunity to go on a lot of installs see each and every step of the installation process. He feels like he has a much better understanding of the solar industry now. Alex didn’t see himself working on roofs six months ago, but now he is eager to do something where he can take advantage of his new knowledge and perspective. His advice for folks interested in a GRID internship? “It’s a fun opportunity,” says Alex, “for people who are pretty fresh grads like myself, it’s a pretty great thing to do.”
