GRID Alternatives – Central Coast is now a reality!
Regional Director, Steven Fernandez and Outreach Coordinator, Sandra Knapp have already started to connect with many local partners in Central Coast. Recently they met with the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation, Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo, and a group from the Cuesta College Clean Energy Workforce Training Program.
They have also been working with existing partners, South County Housing, CHISPA, and People’s Self Help Housing in San Luis Obispo, to work on identifying new potential clients for GRID Alternatives. The Central Coast team has also begun to build relationships with job training groups and trained our first 20 job trainees from CET (Center for Employment Training) in Gilroy, CA. We will also have our first volunteer orientation in San Luis Obispo on October 21st with CalPoly’s Power and Energy Society.
Outreach Coordinator Sandra Knapp says, “Optimistic doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about this area. There is so much potential here and we have all the tools to make a great impact in this new territory. I know we can effectively serve our future clients.”
Sandra comes to GRID Alternatives with a Master’s in City and Regional Planning and experience with the local non-profit philanthropic community. She hopes to create an effective outreach effort based on existing local relationships in the non-profit community and expanding on ones yet to be made.
So far the Central Coast team is off to a sound start. They have qualified their first two clients and have began to setup meetings with many more potential clients.
