Inland Empire Volunteer

Get on the roof and start making a difference! GRID Alternatives trains and leads teams of volunteers and job trainees to install solar electric systems for low-income families. No experience or special tools necessary—our licensed and experienced staff will teach you all you need to know. Volunteers gain hands-on solar experience; network with others interested in renewable energy and the environment; and help make local communities more sustainable. Our Team Leader Program provides additional training and teaching opportunities for more experienced volunteers.

Becoming a volunteer

Click here to fill out our online volunteer application. Once you submit your application, you will be emailed a temporary password to access the Volunteer Portal, where you can update your profile and view a calendar of upcoming orientation sessions and volunteer opportunities. YOU MUST ATTEND A VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION BEFORE ATTENDING AN INSTALLATION.

You will receive confirmation for your orientation, training, or installation date about 7 days before the event date. Please note that we have thousands of interested volunteers and it is common to be waitlisted 2-3 times before you may attend your first install event.
