Hiring a Team Leader

GRID Alternatives Team Leaders have not only demonstrated mastery of solar installation skills, but are also leaders, teaching others to install solar and giving their time to serve local communities. Employers who hire Team Leaders describe them as highly valued employees.

Qualifications

Team Leaders are certified by GRID’s staff to have mastered specific solar installation skills to the proficiency level of being able to perform the task themselves and instruct another individual to perform the task. Each Team Leader has spent a minimum of 40 hours of hands-on training on GRID installations.

Skill requirements for Roof Team Leaders:

  • Volunteer management
  • Proper safety procedures
  • Rafter location; stand-off & flashing installation
  • Assembling racking
  • Placing modules
  • Installing home runs, equipment grounding and junction boxes

Skill requirements for Ground Team Leaders:

  • Volunteer management
  • Proper safety procedures
  • Central inverter mounting and wiring
  • Disconnect mounting and wiring
  • Conduit bending

Hiring Process

GRID Verified Team Leaders meets GRID’s Sub-contractor Partnership Program (SPP)’s job trainee requirement. If you are a GRID Sub-contracting Partner or solar installation company interested in obtaining a list of Team Leaders to consider for hiring, please contact the volunteer coordinator in your local GRID office.
