The 6th annual Bay Area SOLARTHON 2011 was a huge success thanks to all of our outstanding supporters, volunteers, homeowners and job trainees. Hundreds of volunteers joined forces with homeowners on a beautiful sunny day in the Bayview District of San Francisco, and TOGETHER we successfully installed 13 solar electric systems in one day for families living on low-incomes. Combined, these 13 solar systems will provide approximately 1.7 million kW of clean energy for these families over their lifetime, saving the families over $290,000 combined, while also preventing over 977 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Each system will provide over 75% of the families' electricity needs for the next 30 years, protecting them from rising and unpredictable energy prices. Solarthon is a great example of how we can all work together toward a more sustainable and inclusive energy future.
Thank you to all of our individual participants/fundraisers, event sponsors, and volunteers who helped us raise over $100,000 at this year's event! This year's event sponsors included our Presenting Sponsor Yingli Solar, SF Department of Environment, PG&E, Sungevity, Salesforce.com, Wells Fargo, Google, SunRun, Tigo Energy, Burnham Energy, Enphase Energy, Cooperative Center Federal Credit Union, and Clif Bar and Company. We value your continued support and partnership to bring solar savings to communities who need it the most.
