Solarthon is an annual fundraiser and community solar installation event for GRID Alternatives. Solarthon brings together hundreds of individual, team, and corporate sponsors, workforce partners and the homeowners themselves to install an entire neighborhood with solar energy, and all in one day.
In 2011 GRID Alternatives hosted 5 Solarthon events accross the state in the Bay Area, San Diego, Central Valley, Central Coast and Greater Los Angeles regional offices. A total of 47 solar electric systems were completed during these events in conjunction with the Single-family Affordable Solar Homes (SASH) Program, under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission.
The first confirmed Solarthon event date for 2012 is April 21st in the Central Valley. Stay tuned as additional 2012 dates are confirmed for the Inland Empire, San Diego, Bay Area, North Valley, Central Coast, and Greater Los Angeles regional offices.
