With energy costs continuing to rise, and the environmental impact of our current energy sources becoming clearer every day, the time is now for solar power in our community. Join GRID Alternatives for SOLARTHON 2008, our third annual one-day event to raise money and awareness for community solar power, help fight global warming, and bring energy savings to low-income families. Teams of corporate sponsors and individual fundraisers will be installing eight solar electric systems with low-income families at Habitat for Humanity East Bay’s newest development in the City of Alameda, while raising money to support GRID Alternatives work bringing renewable energy to communities in need throughout California.
When: Saturday, June 28th 2008
Where: Habitat for Humanity East Bay's Buena Vista Commons development in Alameda.
Last year's SOLARTHON 2007 event was a huge success, installing eight systems for low-income homeowners in East Oakland and raising $40,000 for community solar power. Check out the photos at our PicasaWeb site. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and participated, and to our corporate sponsors PG&E, Google, WaMu, ENVIRON International, SolarCity, and RMC Water & Environment.
If you have additional questions about this event, or are interested in corporate sponsorship opportunities, please email Zach Franklin, Development Director, at zfranklin@gridalternatives.org. Thank you!
