Volunteers Make a Place into a Community

350 Sacramento Volunteer Coordinator Ilonka Zlatar really knows volunteerism. She manages a broad community of volunteers that does environmental advocacy projects that range from public transit to renewable energy that employ various means such as lectures, radio shows, and art. She shared some thoughts with GRID staff about the importance of volunteers for the community:

"Volunteers are the life blood of grassroots organizations. I am always in awe of what we can all accomplish together with the love we hold in our hearts. Volunteers really do make a place a community. Whether you have 2 hours per month or 2 hours per week, anything you can do or give helps. Take a leap, it's worth it."
