GRID IE is once again participating in the Give Big programs in Riverside and San Bernardino. These fundraising campaigns are part of the larger Giving Tuesday program, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. We invite you to participate in our Give Big fundraising efforts designed to support two of our most popular job training programs, Solar Futures and Troops to Solar.
Solar Futures is our Give Big Riverside fundraiser that provides both classroom and hands-on solar education to K-14 students. GRID has developed a special curriculum built for high school juniors and seniors that is currently being taught in Riverside-area school districts. The initiative provides students an opportunity to learn about solar power and the various career pathways available in the rapidly expanding solar industry. With your support, our goal is to double the number of schools participating in Solar Futures from three to six schools and to provide training to over 200 high school students in 2017.
Our second Giving Tuesday initiative is Troops to Solar and is part of Give Big San Bernardino. This program connects veterans to solar industry jobs by providing rooftop solar training to U.S. military veterans and active service members across the country. With your assistance, GRID IE will be in a position to increase the number of veteran volunteers that are trained, see more veterans get hired into the solar industry, and provide a dedicated new job training experience in 2017.
