"Fun in the Sun" GRID and the great people of Piru, CA

Greetings GRID Family!

This past summer GRID Alternatives-Greater Los Angeles held our first annual Solarthon in Piru, California. It turned out to be an immensely rewarding experience for the homeowners, the sponsors, volunteers and GRID staff. In fact, the experience was so rewarding that, we felt the need to continue the story.

Well, this past weekend, that need was fulfilled. GRID GLA was invited back to Piru for a second round of "fun in the sun". Three additional homeowners of that community applied for the SASH program and from October 1st through October 3rd we returned to our first site of Solarthon and did three installations in three days. Some families from past installations, as well as those of present installations, were on site with open arms to welcome us back.

In the end, three more families were empowered, old and new volunteers got an inspiring firsthand look at how we work together with communities to bring renewable energy into their lives, and the GRID staff was elated to once again do what we love. To date, we have installed 20 grid tied solar electric systems on Sacramento Street in Piru.

Solar power is truly a beautiful thing. Many thanks to the community of Piru, GRID volunteers and all of our wonderful staff in the GLA office. Until next time...
