Our Energy Efficiency Team Program trains and leads teams of volunteers to implement energy and water conservation measures in the homes of low-income seniors and disabled persons. These simple projects include window and door weather stripping, water heater insulation, replacing traditional lightbulbs with long-lasting compact fluorescent ones and installing other cost-effective energy and water saving devices. These small measures make a big impact for our low-income clients, many of whom live on fixed incomes. In 2006 our volunteers served 51 households, who are now saving over $8,000/year in lower gas and electric bills.
We run this program in partnership with the San Francisco and Oakland chapters of Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April), with project dates in April and October.
