News : Solarthon Spotlight: A BIG THANK YOU to our Team Leaders

The Central Valley Solarthon is coming up and the GRID Alternatives team is gearing up for this fun event. On October 8th over 180 community partners, job trainees and volunteers will be installing solar electric systems on 10 houses in 1 day!!! Community empowerment with good food, great fun and wonderful people, as well as a lot of work happening behind the scenes. The Central Valley construction crew, community volunteers and job trainees have been prepping the site for this event all throughout September, but we could not do it without our awesome Team Leaders.

What is a GRID Alternatives Team Leader? GRID Alternatives Team Leaders are experienced volunteers who want to take on a leadership role at installations as well as experts from the industry willing to donate their time and knowledge. Team Leaders work under the supervision of GRID Alternatives' professional solar installation staff and help provide guidance to less experienced volunteers, ensure a positive and safe experience, and verify that all work is done to GRID Alternatives' high standards. Being a Team Leader allows our volunteers to gain knowledge and hands on experience in a growing industry, giving them a comparative advantage over other solar job seekers. For solar contractor or installer, it is a good opportunity to increase their company’s visibility in the community.

GRID Alternatives Central Valley wants to acknowledge and thank our Team Leaders for their continuing support throughout the year and especially for their help at Solarthon. If you see them on October 8th, wearing an orange GRID shirts, make sure to say hi and thanks!
