September marks the beginning of many things: the new school year, the fall season, etc... But at GRID Alternatives it means one thing, SOLARTHON!!!
On Saturday, September 10, GRID Alternatives will kick off the Solarthon season in the Bay Area; installing 13 systems in one day.
The San Diego Solarthon will take place two weeks later in City Heights. This annual block party and fundraiser for GRID Alternatives will bring together hundreds of individual, team, and corporate participants from their communities to install over 50 solar electric systems statewide.
Volunteers have been spreading the GRID word and raising funds for GRID Alternatives. One fundraiser explains how he raised money for our San Diego Solarthon event by setting up a booth at Venice Beach:
"I had some friends and family members donate bottled water, I made some fliers and a donation can. I took a table , a large cooler and a canopy that was donated for the day. We arrived early in the morning, set up the booth and began having fun at the beach fund-raising. We were able to raise $121.50. We talked to everybody we could about Grid Alternatives and what we do. Many people were happy to see that it was for a good cause."
