News : GRID Alternatives and Habitat for Humanity work together in Bay Point

During the last week of June, the Bay Area office of GRID Alternatives installed 7 solar electric systems on homes that are being constructed by Habitat for Humanity East Bay. These systems were installed thanks to PG&E's "Solar Habitat" partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The Bay Area contruction staff, with the help of wonderful volunteers and job trainees from Skyline Community College, dodged unprecedented late June rain and then soaring heat to finish these solar installations. When the families move into these homes, they will save approximately $176,000 on their electric bills over the lifetime of the systems. Furthermore, these installations will prevent approximately 700 tons of greenhouse gas emissions, and have provided a"teaching hospital" experience for solar job trainees.
