Together We Can Help 300 Families Go Solar - Please Donate Today!

After five years of hard work, we have reached an exciting milestone: our 300th solar electric installation! Together we have helped 300 families save money while reducing emissions - families like the Moores, who sent us this video to express their gratitude. With a network of offices and thousands of volunteers throughout California, we are now gearing up to double that number next year and install 300 more solar electric systems for low income families in 2010. Please donate today using the form on the right - together we can reduce more greenhouse gas emissions, train more community members, and help more families than ever in 2010.

We know money is tight for all of us this year, so if you can't make a cash donation, another great way to help is through an in-kind donation of items that will help us install more solar and help more families. Email us at donations@gridalternatives.org if you have any of the items below (in good working condition) and we can arrange pick-up. In-kind donations are also tax-deductible.

  • Digital Cameras/Video Cameras - We always need more digital cameras to use on site visits during the system design process and to document the actual installations to share with volunteers and supporters.
  • Cordless Drills, Crowbars, Utility Knives - As we do more projects at once, we need more of these tools to install racking, cut shingles, and complete other construction tasks.
  • 30' Ladder - Needed to reach roofs of multistory homes.
  • 11x17 Large Format Printer - City building departments require plans submitted for permitting to be in 11x17 format. This printer will allow us to serve clients more efficiently by saving time currently spent going to a printer to print plans for permitting.
  • Roof Harnesses - Harnesses are a necessity to keep our volunteers safe on multistory and steep roofs, and as we do more installations each week our need for harnesses continues to grow.
  • Pop-up Tents, Folding Tables, and Folding Chairs - As we have more events each year, having our own tents, tables and chairs will provide big savings on rental costs.
  • Printer/Scanner/Fax - Our Oakland office has expanded to a two story space, and a printer/scanner/fax is needed for downstairs.
  • Hardhats - Another safety necessity on our installation sites that we can always use more of.
  • Racking/Shelves/Bins - As our installation volume grows we need more storage/organization supplies to keep our warehouses organized.
  • LCD Projectors - Used for volunteer trainings at our different offices.
  • Portable Scanner/Copiers - We need these to make copies of documents during client visits to avoid making repeat trips to collect paperwork.
  • Printer Paper/Manila Folders/Hanging Folders - While we try to be as green as possible, we still need paper for applications, contracts, and marketing materials. We need folders to store all our client applications, contracts, and system designs.
